She wrote, "The silence of an industry on the Hema Committee Report, and it feels like justice isn't even the point anymore. It's just some spectacle where the rules are bent to suit those in power. How can I trust that things will get better? Trust? It's become a commodity, something I'm not willing to hand out so easily anymore. That deeply saddens me." In 2018, Tess Joseph publicly accused Mukesh of inappropriate behavior during the filming of the television show "Kodeeswaran," nearly two decades earlier. She revealed that during the shoot, Mukesh persistently called her hotel room, with the calls lasting for hours. Eventually, her room was moved next to Mukesh's, which left her feeling frightened and uncomfortable. Tess reported the incident to Derek O'Brien, who was the program's director at the time and is now a Trinamool Congress MP. In response, Derek O'Brien promptly arranged for her to return home, ensuring her safety.

When the allegations first surfaced in 2018, Mukesh denied any recollection of the incident. He stated, "I don't even remember anyone named Tess Joseph. If the allegations are true, where has she been all this time?" Mukesh expressed skepticism about the timing of the allegations, questioning why Tess remained silent for so long. "The television show happened years ago. I am unaware of any such allegations. I don't even remember the girl. Why did she stay silent for so long? Were they all sleeping? I have nothing to say. Do what you want, or approach the Supreme Court if needed," Mukesh had remarked.
