AMMA Faces Potential Split; B. Unnikrishnan Confirms Group Of Members Approached FEFKA To Form Trade Union

AMMA Faces Potential Split As Trade Union Proposal Emerges

AMMA Faces Internal Divisions as Members Propose Trade Union: The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is currently facing a potential split, as new developments suggest significant internal divisions. According to a recent report by Manorama News, approximately twenty members of AMMA have reached out to the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) with a proposal to establish a trade union.

This move has been confirmed by FEFKA General Secretary B. Unnikrishnan, who stated that FEFKA would require approval from its General Council before considering the matter further. The organization has indicated that it will review the proposal if the new trade union is formally established and submitted with the necessary details.

Unnikrishnan clarified that AMMA's core identity and membership would be preserved, and the proposal to form a trade union is what is being considered. He emphasized that while it has been inquired whether FEFKA will grant approval, it cannot be concluded that there is a definitive split within AMMA at this stage.

Joy Mathew Dismisses Trade Union Within AMMA As 'Unrealistic'

Adding to the unfolding situation, actor Joy Mathew, a former executive member of AMMA, has responded by labeling the formation of a trade union within AMMA as an "unrealistic dream." Joy Mathew noted that no executive members have approached anyone with this request, and he is unaware if any members have done so independently.

As the situation develops, all eyes will be on how AMMA and FEFKA navigate this potential division and what impact it may have on the Malayalam film industry's key organization.
