Sajin Baabu Accused Of Sexual Assault: The recent Hema Committee Report has stirred significant discussion and concern across various sectors. The Hema Committee Report that came out on August 19, 2024 details how women face harassment and discrimination in Malayalam film industry. Amid all the sexual assault allegations that surfaced, Biriyaani director Sajin Baabu took to Facebook to laud Hema Committee Report, accepting that including others he has also "done many mistakes." After Sajin's Facebook post, two women came forward to accuse the director of allegedly inappropriate behavior.

After Sajin Baabu's Facebook post, a woman reportedly said to The News Minute, "The post was triggering for me." The woman worked with Sajin in one of his low-budget films where a particular number of artiste, including Sajin's girlfriend, stayed in three-storey building. According to the reports, the victim claimed, "On the first night, when the girlfriend was not there, he had come into the room on the pretext of getting his bag." Sajin then allegedly started talking to woman regarding working in the film. He then came to sit on the bed and "began touching my hands and moving his hands across my body." The survivor reportedly said, "I resisted and began to make noise. Hearing this, he suddenly said sorry and said something about trying to make me comfortable on the set, and left the room." After this incident, the woman claimed that Sajin used to find moments to come to the room when his girlfriend used to not be around.

The woman refused to raise the issue and instead chose not to work with Sajin after the incident. During the Hema Committee meeting, she was shocked to know that the same harrowing experience happened with another woman at the hands of the same man. According to the reports, the other woman narrated that she faced an alleged "rape attempt and abuse." She recalled the incident, ""I was not even in the film industry at the time. I had just finished my studies and was looking for a job when a mutual friend introduced me to Sajin, to translate one of his scripts." The other woman said that she met Sajin in Thrissur at Sangeetha Nataka Akademi where they read a script together. She said, "He then suggested that I could read it calmly in a room nearby and repeatedly said that he would not come there." While she was reading the script, Sajin allegedly tried "raping" her. She said, "I began to shout. He knew there were people around, and he began to apologise. But then, as I tried to pick my things and get out of there, he began to masturbate. I shouted again and he apologised again, and this would repeat." She said that she immediately rushed out of the situation in shock.

Sajin said in his Facebook post, "For men who are born in a totally male-dominated society, and live by practicing subjugation there, a lot of people, including me, live by normalizing the many, many mistakes that occur from their ignorance, due to the conditioning of the society, and from life circumstances."
