'Bro Daddy' Assistant Director Mansoor Rasheed Arrested In Sexual Assault Case, Police To Oppose Bail

Bro Daddy AD Mansoor Rasheed Arrested In Sexual Assault Case

'Bro Daddy' Assistant Director Mansoor Rasheed Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges: Assistant director Mansoor Rasheed has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault complaint filed by a woman regarding an incident on the set of the movie Bro Daddy. Mansoor surrendered at the Kukatpally court in Hyderabad recently and has been remanded to custody for 14 days.

The Gachibowli police confirmed that Mansoor is currently held at Kandi Jail in Sangareddy district and that they will oppose his bail application. Mansoor had been absconding after both the Kukatpally Court and the Telangana High Court denied his anticipatory bail. According to the woman's complaint, Mansoor allegedly drugged her by spiking a soft drink with a sedative and subsequently assaulted her.

The case has garnered significant attention, particularly as the woman made further allegations regarding the film industry's handling of the matter. She claims that despite the film crew's knowledge of the incident, Mansoor was still involved in the upcoming film 'L2: Empuraan.' However, she later heard reports that he had been removed from the project following the complaint.

In addition to the assault, the woman has accused Mansoor of spreading malicious rumors about her and her child with the alleged support of local political figures. She claimed that this defamation campaign was an act of revenge for filing the complaint, stating that her family life has been ruined and that she is currently living in fear for her safety, hiding to avoid further harm.

WCC Urges Government to Implement Hema Committee's Recommendations

In a related development, the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) has stepped forward to demand that the privacy of individuals who provided testimonies to the Hema Committee be protected. The WCC met with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to urge the government to implement the recommendations put forth by the committee. These recommendations focus on ensuring necessary facilities for women on film sets and promoting safer working conditions in the industry.

A five-member delegation from the WCC, which included prominent figures such as Rima Kallingal, Beena Paul, and Revathy, met the Chief Minister to press for a more robust code of conduct within the film industry. The organization had earlier raised the demand for such a code to prevent sexual harassment and protect women working in cinema.
