Kerala State Film Awards 160 Films Compete For Top Honours

Kerala State Film Awards: In an unprecedented event for Malayalam cinema, a staggering 160 films are vying for the prestigious Kerala State Film Awards this year. This marks the highest number of entries ever received for the awards, showcasing the burgeoning creativity and productivity within the industry. The screening process has already commenced, promising a rigorous and comprehensive evaluation of the diverse array of films.

The Kerala State Film Awards' screening began on Saturday at the Chalachitra Academy's Ramu Kariat Theater and LV Prasad Theater located in KINFRA. To efficiently manage the high volume of entries, two primary committees have been established, each responsible for screening 80 films. From this initial pool, approximately 30 percent of the films will be shortlisted based on their merits. These selected films will then be judged by the final jury, culminating in the announcement of the awards by mid-August. Films certified in 2023 are considered for the 54th Kerala State Film Awards.
