Kerala State Film Awards: Sudhir Mishra Named Jury Chair, Jury Members, And Screening Dates Announced

Sudhir Mishra to Chair Kerala State Film Awards 2023 Jury: Renowned filmmaker Sudhir Mishra has been appointed as the jury chairperson for the Kerala State Film Awards 2023. Mishra, known for his impactful works in Indian cinema, including the National Award-winning "Dharavi" and the critically acclaimed "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi," brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Mishra, whose directorial debut "Yeh Woh Manzil To Nahin" garnered the National Film Award for Best Debut in 1987, has been recognised internationally as well. In 2010, he was honoured by the French government with the prestigious Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Kerala State Film Awards 2023: Jury Members

The jury will include two subcommittee heads for the preliminary judging panel: filmmaker Priyanandanan and cinematographer Azhagappan. Both will also serve as members of the final judging panel alongside esteemed figures such as filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery, writer N.S. Madhavan, actor Ann Augustine, and musician Sreevalsan J. Menon.

Supporting the judging process, the preliminary panel comprises cinematographer Prathap V. Nair, editor Vijay Shankar, writers Shihabuddin Poythumkadavu, Vinoy Thomas, and Malavika Binny, and sound recordist C.R. Chandran. Film critic and writer Janaki Sreedharan will lead the jury focusing on cinema-related writings, assisted by film critic Jose K. Manuel and writer O.K. Santosh. C. Ajoy, secretary of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, will serve as the member secretary across all panels.

Kerala State Film Awards 2023: Screening Dates

A total of 160 films have been submitted for consideration, marking a significant number for this year's awards. The jury screenings are scheduled to commence on July 13, marking the beginning of a meticulous process to honour excellence in Malayalam cinema.
