Malayalam Producer Johny Sagariga Arrested For ₹2.75 Crore Cheating Case

Johny Sagariga Arrested In Cheating Case: Johny Thomas, a film producer widely known by his production-cum-distribution alias Johny Sagariga, was arrested on Wednesday by the City Crime Branch (CCB) of the Coimbatore City Police.
According to the police, Thomas was arrested in connection with a cheating case following a complaint filed by NRI Dwarak Udayakumar of Vadavalli in Coimbatore, who resides in Canada.
In his complaint, Udayakumar alleges that he gave Johny Sagariga ₹2.75 crore for the production of a film but was deceived.
The CCB stated that Thomas was intercepted by immigration officials at Cochin International Airport on Tuesday while attempting to board a flight to Dubai. A lookout circular had been issued against him as he had failed to respond to several summonses from the CCB.
He was then handed over to the Nedumbassery police, who subsequently informed the CCB officers. A team from the CCB arrived at Nedumbassery and transferred him to Coimbatore. Thomas was arrested on Wednesday.
According to a complaint filed by Uthayashankar against Thomas and his son Ron Johny Thomas in March, the amount that was cheated was purportedly invested by Thomas for the production of his 2018 movie titled "Nonsense." The alleged transaction occurred in 2016 and 2017, according to the police.

Additionally, he ventured into film production and distribution, handling numerous projects such as "Body Guard," "Niram," "Vadakkumnadhan," and "4 The People.
