Malayalam Production Controller Shanu Ismail Found Dead In Kochi Hotel After MeToo Allegations Against Him

Malayalam Production Controller Shanu Ismail Death: Malayalam production controller Shanu Ismail has been found dead at a private hotel in Kochi, where he had taken a room on September 11. According to the reports, the technician has been staying at the hotel for the last 10 days, and his body was discovered around at 3 o'clock today after he had not come out of the room at all today and stopped responding. To note more, Shanu's death came after a woman brought MeToo allegations against him.
Shanu Ismail Accused Of MeToo Allegations Amid Hema Committee Report
Shanu Ismail, native of Thiruvananthapuram, has been under the radar of police ever since a woman accused Shanu of sexually assualting her. The woman claimed that Shanu raped her in an empty flat after false-promising to cast her in a movie, and the case dates back to 2018. Police had already registered an FIR against Shanu and the case had been going on already.
To note more, this allegations against Shanu came amid Hema Committee Report that stated how women in the Malayalam film industry are sexually assaulted and abused. Many noted filmmakers' and actors' name came along the way after the report was made public.
Well, it is not clear if Shanu's death is related to the MeToo allegations against him, as per the latest reports, an investigation is currently underway.
For the unversed, the justice Hema Committee was constituted by the Kerala government after the women in cinema submitted a collective petition after the sexual assault case in 2017 took place. The petition also showcased the challenges faced by the women working in Malayalam cinema.
