Manjummel Boys Leaked After OTT Release: Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi starrer Manjummel Boys has been one of the most talked about releases of the year. Helmed by Chidambaram, the movie was a survival drama that also featured Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, Chandu Salimkumar, Shebin Benson, and Vishnu Reghu in the lead. The movie was released earlier this year and it had opened to rave reviews and witnessed a decent run at the box office with a lifetime collection of Rs 116.75 crores as per Bollywood Hungama.

After winning hearts in the theatres, Manjummel Boys made the headlines for its digital release. The movie, which had released in February 2024, has finally witnessed its OTT release. Manjummel Boys is released on Disney Hostar on May 5. For the uninitiated, Manjummel Boys is based on a true incident which revolves around a group of boys Manjummel who head for a vacation to Kodaikanal.

And while Manjummel Boys has finally released on OTT, it has become the recent prey of piracy as it is reported that the full movie, which was released in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, was leaked online just hours after its OTT release.

The media reports suggest that Manjummel Boys was leaked online and was available for free download in all languages or watching online for free in HD print on several illegal websites soon after it premiered on Disney Hotstar. Needless to say, the leak has come as a shock to the makers and is likely to affect its viewership across the world despite a phenomenal response at the box office.

Meanwhile, director Chidambaram has dropped hints about remaking Manjummel Boys in other languages. He stated, "There will be a bunch of boys like these in every corner of the world. Plus, friendship and love are very universal things. But since Manjummel Boys is based on a real story, I don't know how it will be placed in other settings, and if it is entirely fictional, I am not sure if it will gain as much acceptance. However, I am very open to (the idea of) remakes and reinterpretations".

To note, this isn't the first time that a movie has fallen prey to piracy this year as piracy has turned out to be a menace for the entertainment industry. Earlier, Manjummel Boys was targetted by piracy even after its theatrical release. Besides big releases like Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Manoj Bajpayee's crime investigation drama Silence 2, Ajay Devgn's Maidaan, Kareena Kapoor Khan's Crew, Maharani season 3, Madame Web, Dunki, Fighter, Shahid Kapoor-Kriti Sanon's Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, etc were leaked online within hours of release earlier this year. While piracy has been a menace, the showbiz world has been putting in efforts to fight it. But looks like it is going in vain.
