Nagendran's Honeymoons Review: Suraj Venjaramoodu's Short Web Series Mixes Comedy & Intrigue In Slow Narration

Nagendran's Honeymoon Web Series Review & Rating: National Award-winning actor Suraj Venjaramoodu made his digital streaming debut with a dark comedy web series produced, written and directed by Nithin Renji Panicker. Titled 'Nagendran's Honeymoon,' the low-key short web series debuted on Disney Plus Hotstar on July 19.

Nagendran's Honeymoons Premise

Nagendran (Suraj Venjaramoodu) wants to make it big by going abroad and make money. A villager promises him a job in UAE and asks him to arrange for visa fees. When one of his friends get married, he receives dowry. Nagendran's friend Soman suggests him to get married to earn the required money. However, he doesn't stop after his first marriage and gets married to many girls of various religions and classes.

Nagendran's Honeymoons is a period drama which introduces the viewers to the mundane and wasted life of Nagendran, who is a dependent. He doesn't work hard and wants to go abroad. Meanwhile, his mother wants him to get married so that he could start earning. Soman, Nagendran's friend encourages him to get married to procure money for visa. When Nagendran gets married to his maternal relative he finds out that they duped him by not offering any money. This prompts him to marry many girls one after the other but to no avail.

Soothing Visuals & Calming Narration

Suraj Venjaramoodu showcased great work as Nagendran in the series. The web series has a total of six episodes named after the woman Nagendran marries for money. While the movie takes place in a period setup, it has stunning visuals and the narrative is slow, composed, and easy. The crisp runtime of about 35 minutes for each episode makes Nagendran's Honeymoons a quick watch for enthusiastic OTT viewers.

After marrying one after the other woman in each episode for money, Nagendran finally grows sick of all this and threatens his friend Soman to confess it to the latest woman he married, Mozhi. But, Soman, who is being pursued by one of his wife's brothers and an Inspector, awaits a shocking end.

Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ammu Abhirami, Shweta Menon, Kani Kusruti, Grace Antony, Alphy Panjikaran, Shivani Saya, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Janardhan, Pramod Velliyanad, Ramesh Pisharody, Niranjana Anoop, and Alexander Prasanth played prominent characters in the web series.

Nithin Renji Panicker worked on the series' story, screenplay, dialogues, and direction apart from funding it under the Nithin Renji Panicker Productions in association with MGC (P) Ltd. Ranjin Raj composed the entire background score and music for the web series while Nikhil S Praveen cranked the camera. Mansoor Muthootty worked as the editor.
