Padavettu Director Liju Krishna Accused Of Sexual Assault: Complainant Speaks Out About Ongoing Trauma

Padavettu Director Liju Krishna Accused Of Sexual Assault

Survivor Revisits Trauma as Film Industry Faces Scrutiny: Speaking out about distressing experiences within the film industry has recently gained significant attention as more individuals come forward with their stories. Director of Padavettu Liju Krishna, previously accused of sexual assault by a woman in the industry, was arrested in 2022 following serious allegations. The survivor has now renewed her revelations, prompted by the release of the Hema Committee Report.

According to the Mathrubhumi report, the woman, who continues to face severe trauma, has shared that her treatment is still ongoing. Despite the challenges, she expressed gratitude for the support she has received from a few strong supporters. The survivor, who was 26 at the time of the incident, described the experience as a horrifying memory, one she still struggles to overcome. She noted that her therapy has reached a new stage and that all her doctors and therapists are women.

She also noted that a person who had been like a shadow to her for years has now legally become her partner, with the support of her family, as of last year. She acknowledged the distress of marrying someone she loved while still dealing with unresolved trauma. "The reason this person stayed with me for so long was due to his progressive attitude. Had it been another survivor, the outcome might have been different. Our society often abandons women, even if they face an accident. In that sense, I consider myself very fortunate," she remarked.

Personal Struggles and Calls for Industry Reform Highlighted

The survivor also recounted her prolonged hospital stay, during which she was unable to walk at times. She emphasized that she does not seek sympathy but rather appreciates the compassion shown by those close to her. Reflecting on the release of the Hema Committee Report, she felt that survivors needed to be heard. "Survivors are struggling to live. For them, 24 hours can feel like 24 years. They may not necessarily speak about such experiences in front of anyone here. Rapists gain confidence only because the film industry allows it," she stated.

The survivor also addressed recent comments made by a superstar, who questioned when they had become strangers to the public. She expressed frustration over the comparison being made between the film industry and other sectors. "How can every sector be compared to the film industry? The film industry is unique in its scale and the amount of money involved. Do people in other industries receive the same level of privileges or rewards as those in cinema? The way ordinary people see stars cannot be called admiration. It is the stars who have decided that this is how you should see us," she concluded.

The survivor's renewed testimony underscores the ongoing issues within the film industry and highlights the need for continued support and accountability. The Hema Committee Report has brought these issues into the spotlight, prompting further discussions about the industry's practices and its impact on individuals.
