Director Ranjith Resigns As Chalachitra Academy Chairman Following Allegations By Actress Sreelekha Mitra

Ranjith Resigns as Chairman of Kerala State Chalachitra Academy: Director Ranjith has resigned from his position as Chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy following serious allegations of inappropriate behavior made by Bengali actress Sreelekha Mitra. Ranjith, who resides in Wayanad, had already removed the official name board from his car yesterday.

Sreelekha Mitra previously disclosed that during her visit to Kerala to act in Ranjith's film, "Paleri Manikyam," she experienced unwelcome advances and inappropriate behavior from the director. She reported that Ranjith misbehaved and made sexual advances without her consent. Mitra stated that she was forced to stay in a hotel all night out of fear and had reported the incident to documentary filmmaker Joshi Joseph. The actress also claimed that she was subsequently denied opportunities in Malayalam films, which she attributes to her refusal to tolerate Ranjith's misconduct.

In a related development, actor Siddique has resigned from his position as AMMA General Secretary following similar allegations of sexual misconduct. Reports suggest that the government is contemplating legal action against Siddique.
