Rima Kallingal To Pursue Legal Action Over Drug Party Allegations; Says WCC Will Meet Kerala CM Soon

Rima Kallingal to Take Legal Action Over Drug Party Claims: In a recent development, actress Rima Kallingal has decided to take legal action against the individual who has accused her of hosting drug parties and having connections with the drug mafia. These accusations were made in an interview with the SS Buzz YouTube Channel by singer Suchitra, who claimed that Rima regularly hosted parties at her residence where drugs were extensively used by attendees of all genders. Suchitra's interview has since gone viral on social media, sparking widespread discussions and concerns.
Suchitra alleged that young women are being introduced to drug use at these gatherings and suggested that these activities might have contributed to the decline of Rima Kallingal's career. "There are certain things that should not be used at a party, even if it is attended by adults. I was deeply shocked to learn about Rima Kallingal's involvement in such activities," Suchitra stated during the interview. She also mentioned that several Malayalam music directors who attended these parties had voiced their discomfort and shared troubling experiences with her.
Rima Denies Allegations, Criticizes Media and Calls for Government Action
In response to these serious accusations, Rima Kallingal, in an interview with Asianet News, categorically denied the claims and announced her intent to pursue legal action against Suchitra. Rima pointed out that the person who raised these allegations has been deemed untrustworthy by the Madras High Court, casting doubt on the credibility of the accusations. She also criticized the media for sensationalizing a one-minute segment from a 30-minute YouTube video about her, which she believes has been taken out of context to malign her reputation.
Rima also highlighted a significant inconsistency in the media coverage of Suchitra's interview. She pointed out that the same individual who accused her also made allegations against prominent figures like Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and actors Mohanlal and Mammootty, suggesting that they orchestrated the Hema Committee report to destroy the career of actor Fahadh Faasil. Despite the gravity of these claims, Rima noted that the media chose not to report on them. She sarcastically remarked that the people of Kerala should decide whether there is a power group behind these selective reports.
Looking ahead, Rima expressed her hope that the implementation of the Hema Committee report, which addresses issues related to sexual harassment and gender equality in the Malayalam film industry, would now rest with the court. She also mentioned ongoing efforts to undermine the credibility of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC), an organization of which she is a key member. Rima emphasized that the WCC has a responsibility to guide discussions regarding the report in the right direction.
She added that the WCC would soon meet with the Chief Minister to demand further action based on the Hema Committee report and stressed the importance of the government responding this time to prevent future atrocities against women. Rima also called out actor Mohanlal, urging him to start thinking about matters related to the report if he does not have an answer yet.
In conclusion, Rima reiterated that the actors who raised complaints in the Hema Committee report did so out of trust in the government, believing that the authorities would support them. However, they are now being asked to file complaints again, a request that Rima finds unacceptable. She assured that the WCC would strongly present these issues to the Chief Minister in their upcoming meeting, seeking justice and a decisive response from the government.
