Actress Usha Alleges Misconduct By Director Thulasidas, Reveals Disturbing Incidents Of Inappropriate Behavior

Actress Usha Alleges Misconduct By Director Thulasidas

Usha Reveals Unpleasant Experiences With Director Thulasidas: Actress Usha has publicly shared her distressing experiences with director Thulasidas, raising concerns about inappropriate conduct on film sets. Usha, who serves as the Vice President of the Progressive Arts & Literary Organization in Alappuzha district, detailed her encounters during a recent state conference in Kannur.

In a media interview, Usha recounted a troubling incident from her time working on the film "Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji." She revealed that, one night while filming, Thulasidas invited her to his room at 11 PM, under the pretense of discussing her character. Usha declined the invitation, suggesting that they could have the conversation the following day. When she later reported this incident to lead actors Mukesh and Siddique, she was met with ridicule. Following these events, she noted that the importance of her role in the film was significantly diminished.

Usha's difficulties continued when she was later cast in another film directed by Thulasidas. This time, he allocated her a room directly opposite his own. Concerned about his past behavior, Usha requested a different room but was denied. Uncomfortable with the situation, she chose to leave the project and return to Alappuzha. According to Usha, another colleague of her also experienced unsettling behavior from Thulasidas in her presence.

Director Thulasidas Accused of Harassment

Usha recounted that someone repeatedly knocked on the colleague's door late at night. After the persistent knocking continued for about ten minutes, the frightened colleague contacted the hotel reception. Security personnel arrived to investigate, only to find Thulasidas peeking through the partially opened door. Witnesses reported the incident, and the director was summoned outside to address the situation. The following day, when Usha and her colleague returned to the set, Thulasidas sarcastically questioned whether her colleague would only stay in the hotel if security was provided.

When the colleague mentioned the doorknocking incident, Thulasidas claimed it was him. Usha disclosed that until the film's completion, there were ongoing issues with Thulasidas's behavior toward her colleague.

Several revelations like this following the release of the Hema Committee report have sparked a wider discussion about the treatment of female actors in the Malayalam industry and the need for greater accountability and professionalism on film sets.
