Actress Assault Case: Verdict Date Set For Dileep, Pulsar Suni And Other Accused In High-Profile Trial

Actress Assault Case: The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court is scheduled to deliver its verdict on December 8 in the high-profile case involving the assault of an actress in Kochi. All nine accused in the case, including actor Dileep and first accused Pulsar Suni, are reportedly required to be present for the hearing.
The case, initially registered by Nedumbassery Police and later investigated by the Crime Branch, relates to an attack that took place on February 17, 2017, inside a moving vehicle in Kochi city. Dileep, who is listed as the eighth accused, faces charges under a supplementary chargesheet that includes conspiracy to commit rape.
Prolonged Trial Marked by Delays and Hostile Witnesses
Final arguments from both the prosecution and the defense were completed in April 2025. However, the trial proceedings have experienced multiple delays, with the court adjourning the case 27 times to clarify aspects of the arguments. Despite the main trial concluding last year, procedural matters have extended for over a year.
Several of the accused, including Dileep and Pulsar Suni, were previously in custody but are currently out on bail. During the trial that began in March 2018, 28 witnesses became hostile while giving their statements.
The case has drawn extensive public and media attention over the years due to the involvement of prominent film industry figures. The December 8 hearing will conclude a trial that has spanned over six years, with attention focused on how the court addresses the charges, particularly those involving Dileep.
