Minu Muneer Arrested Over Defamation Case: Actress Minu Muneer has been arrested by the Infopark Cyber Police in Kochi in connection with a defamation case involving veteran Malayalam actor and filmmaker Balachandra Menon. According to a report by Twentyfour News, the arrest was made based on allegations that Minu Muneer had defamed Balachandra Menon through her posts on social media platforms. She was later granted bail.

The case follows a series of allegations made by Minu Muneer in the past, including claims of sexual misconduct against several members of the Malayalam film industry. Among those named in her complaints were actors Mukesh and Jayasurya. Her complaints came in the wake of public debate surrounding the Hema Committee report, which examined issues related to workplace conditions in the Malayalam film industry.

Defamation Case Follows Earlier Harassment Allegation Dismissed by Court

Minu Muneer's complaint against Balachandra Menon alleged that the actor-director had sexually harassed her in January 2007 at a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram during the shooting of the film De Ingottu Nokkiye. However, the court later dismissed the case after legal proceedings concluded that there was insufficient evidence to proceed.

As part of the inquiry, the police had submitted a final report stating that the allegations against Balachandra Menon could not be substantiated. The court had also issued a notice to Minu Muneer as part of the procedural process.

Following the closure of the sexual harassment case, the current defamation complaint was initiated based on Minu Muneer's social media posts about Balachandra Menon. Authorities determined that the posts were defamatory in nature and proceeded with legal action, resulting in her arrest.

As of now, neither Minu Muneer nor Balachandra Menon has issued a public statement regarding the arrest. Further developments in the case are awaited as legal proceedings continue.
