Alappuzha Gymkhana OTT Release: Malayalam sports drama Alappuzha Gymkhana, which had its theatrical release on April 10, 2025, is now set for its digital debut. The film will begin streaming on SonyLIV starting June 13, allowing a wider audience to catch the coming-of-age story centered around a group of young boxers from Alappuzha.

Although Alappuzha Gymkhana is officially scheduled to release on June 13, industry trackers speculate that the film might begin streaming earlier-possibly by 2:00 PM today. This wouldn't be unusual, as OTT platforms have occasionally dropped films a few hours ahead of their announced release time. However, there has been no official confirmation so far. With only a few hours to go, viewers won't have to wait long to find out.

Directed and produced by Khalid Rahman, Alappuzha Gymkhana explores the lives of five school-leaving friends-Jojo, DJ, Valthu, Cherthu, and Shanavas-who find themselves facing limited prospects after failing their 12th-grade board exams. While one among them manages to pass, the rest struggle to find a meaningful direction forward.

Their path unexpectedly converges on boxing, not out of passion, but as a strategic decision to gain college admission through sports quota. What begins as a convenient shortcut soon evolves into something deeper, as the group commits to rigorous training under the guidance of a local coach and a seasoned state-level boxer. The story follows their experiences at the Alappuzha Gymkhana boxing school and their preparation for the Kerala State Amateur Boxing Championship.

Over time, the friends encounter numerous challenges-some dropping out, others switching sports, and all facing psychological and physical hurdles. Their dynamics shift as they push through intense routines and interpersonal tensions, with each member reacting differently to the pressure and expectations.

Written by Khalid Rahman and Sreeni Saseendran, with dialogues by Ratheesh Ravi, the film features a large ensemble cast including Naslen, Lukman Avaran, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Sandeep Pradeep, Anagha Ravi, Franco Francis, Baby Jean, and Shiva Hariharan. The technical team includes cinematographer Jimshi Khalid, music director Vishnu Vijay, and editor Nishadh Yusuf.

The film's production was backed by Khalid Rahman, Jobin George, Sameer Karat, and Subeesh Kannanchery. The movie was distributed in theaters by Central Pictures.
