Aparna Johns Backs Vincy Aloshious' Allegations Against Shine Tom Chacko Over On-Set Misconduct

Aparna Johns Supports Vincy's Allegations Against Shine Tom Chacko: The Malayalam film industry finds itself in the spotlight once again, as actress Aparna Johns has come forward in support of fellow actress Vincy Aloshious, who had earlier filed a complaint against actor Shine Tom Chacko alleging inappropriate behavior on the set of the film Soothravakyam.
In an interview given to Asianet News, Aparna stated that Shine's behavior on set was disturbing and that his remarks were "sexually suggestive and deeply inappropriate." According to her, the incident caused considerable mental distress during the filming. Aparna revealed that she had also raised the issue with the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) present at the film's set.
Aparna, who currently resides in Australia, confirmed that the ICC responded promptly at the time and addressed the matter. She fully backed Vincy's allegations, calling them "100 percent accurate." Recounting a specific incident, she mentioned that Shine allegedly spat a white powder-like substance while she was present with Vincy. While she could not verify whether it was a narcotic, Aparna said she had informed the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) about the incident. She added that being overseas limits her ability to participate in legal proceedings but said she would have actively pursued the matter if she were in India.
Shine Tom Chacko Apologizes to Vincy Aloshious
The ICC convened a meeting on Monday in Kochi to address the complaint. During the session, Shine Tom Chacko reportedly issued an apology to Vincy and expressed his willingness to change if his behavior was found inappropriate. Shine, who attended the hearing with family members, claimed that his mannerisms were misinterpreted and insisted there was no malintent. Vincy, who appeared alone, agreed to abide by the committee's decision. Reports indicate that the parties opted for a conciliatory resolution, partly to avoid disruption to the film's release.
Meanwhile, law enforcement has intensified efforts to curb drug use in the Malayalam film industry. As reported by Manorama News, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Manoj Abraham stated that a list of suspected regular users and distributors has been prepared. A new mechanism is being put in place to initiate legal action based on confidential information provided by informants, including actors. He assured that the identities of whistleblowers would be protected and added that there would be no leniency in the case involving Shine Tom Chacko.
