Barroz OTT Release Date Announced: When And Where To Watch Mohanlal's Directorial Debut Film

Barroz OTT Release Date: Mohanlal's ambitious fantasy film Barroz: Guardian of Treasures, which marks his directorial debut, is set to stream on Disney+ Hotstar starting January 22. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, the Malayalam film stars Mohanlal in the lead role alongside an international cast, including Maya Rao West, Cesar Lorente Raton, Ignacio Mateos, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Nerea Camacho, and Tuhin Menon.

Barroz was released in theaters in 3D on December 25, 2024, garnering a mix of criticism and praise, with overall reviews leaning negative. While audiences and critics praised its 3D effects, cinematography, and production design, the screenplay and performances drew criticism. The film also struggled at the box office, reportedly incurring losses exceeding ₹130 crores.

Disney+ Hotstar announced the streaming release with a post reading, "Step into the magical world of Barroz: The Guardian of Treasures, streaming from January 22nd on Disney+ Hotstar."

Barroz Cast

The fantasy film Barroz: Guardian of Treasures features Mohanlal in the lead role as Barroz, a Malabari slave serving Vasco da Gama. The movie features an international ensemble cast, including Maya Rao West as Isa Ron/Isabella da Gama and Ignacio Mateos as Cristóvão da Gama, the Portuguese Viceroy.

Tuhin Menon appears as Ron Madhav, Kallirroi Tziafeta as Theresa da Gama, and Guru Somasundaram as S. P. Subramanyam, a security officer. Cesar Lorente Raton plays Mendoza, a museum curator, and Joshua Okesalako takes on the role of Muwesi Maria, an occultist.

The cast also features Melvin Gregg Kosisochukwu, Amal P. B., and Kirtana Kumar, with special cameo appearances by Pranav Mohanlal, Antony Perumbavoor, and Lydian Nadhaswaram.

VFX, supervised by Brynley Cadman, was crafted by Pix Rock Studios and Labyrinth Studios, while stereography was managed by Ashish Mittal and Surabhi. Action sequences were choreographed by Palaniraj and Jakkrit Kanokpodjananon from Thailand.

The team also included lyricists Vinayak Sasikumar and Lakshmi Sreekumar, costume designer Jyoti Madnani Singh, and choreographers Brinda and Prasanna. Post-production was led by Nidhin Chandran, with designs by Oldmonks, reflecting a meticulous collaboration from a globally diverse crew.
