Bazooka Release: Mammootty Reveals Why He Decided To Act In Deeno Dennis' Action Thriller Film

Mammootty Shares Why He Chose to Star in Deeno Dennis' Bazooka: With just a few hours to go before its theatrical release, Bazooka, an upcoming Malayalam action thriller, is set to arrive in cinemas on April 10, 2025. The film features Mammootty in the lead and marks the directorial debut of Deeno Dennis.

In a heartfelt message shared via social media, Mammootty opened up about what drew him to the project, expressing admiration for the film's fresh concept and his faith in the vision of a new storyteller. The veteran actor, known for supporting young talents, revealed that the moment he heard the story-centered around a gaming theme-it struck a chord with him. "It felt fresh and exciting from the very first narration," he said. "And now it has become a film. It's your turn to embrace it."

Deeno Dennis' Directorial Debut

Deeno Dennis, who makes his directorial debut with Bazooka, originally developed a script back in 2018, which he had written over three years. Interestingly, it was Mammootty who encouraged Dennis to take the plunge and direct the film himself, recognizing the unique voice and potential in the young filmmaker. Although the final film is reportedly not the same one Deeno Dennis originally developed, the collaboration came to fruition when the project was officially announced in April 2023.

Produced by Dolwin Kuriakose and Jinu V. Abraham under Theatre of Dreams, in association with Yoodlee Films, Bazooka boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Gautham Vasudev Menon, Babu Antony, Neeta Pillai, Divya Pillai, Shine Tom Chacko, and Sidharth Bharathan, among others. Mammootty plays Antony John, an ethical hacker and businessman, while Gautham Vasudev Menon essays the role of ACP Benjamin Joshua IPS.

Shot extensively in Kochi, principal photography began in May 2023 and wrapped up in October 2024. The film features music composed by Saeed Abbas, cinematography by Nimish Ravi, and editing by Praveen Prabhakar and Nishadh Yusuf.

Mammootty's message not only highlights his passion for supporting fresh talent but also reflects his belief that every new director brings a new perspective to the table. "As I always say, every new director has something new to say," he added in his social media message.

As Bazooka prepares for release, the film brings together elements of action, suspense, and a gaming-inspired premise-aligning with what Mammootty found compelling in the script.
