Bazooka Vs Alappuzha Gymkhana Box Office Collection Day 2 Prediction: Naslen’s Sports Drama Stays Ahead

Bazooka Vs Alappuzha Gymkhana Box Office Day 2 Prediction

Bazooka Vs Alappuzha Gymkhana Box Office Collection Day 2 Prediction: The Vishu box office in Kerala is seeing an interesting face-off between two very different Malayalam films - Bazooka, a stylized action thriller headlined by Mammootty, and Alappuzha Gymkhana, a sports drama featuring rising star Naslen. Both films hit theaters on April 10, aiming to draw in the holiday audience, and early trends from day two suggest that Alappuzha Gymkhana is currently maintaining a modest but noticeable edge over Bazooka in terms of box office performance.

According to film industry tracker AB George, Alappuzha Gymkhana has grossed ₹1.25 crore from 869 shows across Kerala as of 12 PM on Day 2, while Bazooka stands at ₹91 lakh from 829 shows during the same timeframe.

Bazooka vs Alappuzha Gymkhana: A Vishu Box Office Face-Off

This outcome might seem unexpected to some, given Mammootty's long-standing appeal. However, Alappuzha Gymkhana appears to be gaining steady traction, particularly among younger viewers, thanks to favorable word-of-mouth. Set in a small coastal town, the film follows Jojo, a teenager who reluctantly enters a state-level boxing tournament in hopes of earning grace marks. Guided by the no-nonsense coach Joshua, Jojo and his group of classmates gradually transform - both as athletes and individuals - as they navigate the challenges of the sport and their personal lives.

Helmed by Khalid Rahman, Alappuzha Gymkhana is co-written by Sreeni Saseendran, with dialogues by Ratheesh Ravi. The cast includes Lukman Avaran, Ganapathi, Sandeep Pradeep, Anagha Ravi, and Kottayam Nazeer. The film also benefits from Vishnu Vijay's music and the visuals of Jimshi Khalid.

On the other hand, Bazooka leans into action-thriller territory with a storyline that explores the intersection of crime and digital culture. Mammootty plays Antony John, an ethical hacker and businessman, while Gautham Vasudev Menon portrays Benjamin Joshua, a police officer investigating a string of violent crimes linked to a popular video game. The film is directed by debutant Deeno Dennis, who also penned the script, and adopts a stylized approach. While Bazooka has generated interest for its intriguing concept and visual flair, its early box office performance has been relatively modest compared to expectations.

Interestingly, the journey of Bazooka has been several years in the making. Deeno Dennis initially presented the concept to Mammootty in 2018. Although Dennis hadn't intended to direct the film himself, it was Mammootty who encouraged him to take the plunge. After being officially announced in April 2023, the film was shot extensively in Kochi and wrapped up in October 2024.

The film has a massive supporting cast that includes Babu Antony, Neeta Pillai, Gayathiri Iyer, Divya Pillai, Jagadish, Sidharth Bharathan, Iswarya Menon, Shine Tom Chacko, Sumith Naval, Hakkim Shah, Sneha Ajith, Dinu Dennis, Bhama Arun, Abin Bino, Santhosh Varkey, Vasisht Umesh, Binu Pappu, Meenakshi Raveendran, Spadikam George, Shammi Thilakan, Mime Gopi, George Maryan, Vaiyapuri, Khalid Rahman, and V. K. Prakash. Technical credits are also noteworthy, with cinematography by Nimish Ravi, editing by Praveen Prabhakar and Nishadh Yusuf, and a pulsating score by Saeed Abbas. The production team pulled out all the stops, including multiple VFX studios and a high-octane action team led by Mahesh Mathew and Mafia Sasi.

Despite its modest Day 2 numbers, Bazooka may still see an uptick over the weekend, especially with Mammootty's loyal fan base expected to turn out in greater numbers. However, it will require strong word-of-mouth to sustain momentum against the more widely appealing Alappuzha Gymkhana.

In the days ahead, the real test for both films will be how well they sustain their box office momentum beyond the Vishu weekend. While Bazooka may attract fans of the action thriller genre and Mammootty's performance, Alappuzha Gymkhana seems to be resonating with younger audiences through its relatable narrative and setting.

For now, in this unexpected matchup, it's the smaller film that appears to be holding a slight edge at the box office.
