Boby Chemmanur Denied Bail Over Alleged Obscene Remarks Against Malayalam Actress

Court Denies Bail to Boby Chemmanur Amid Serious Allegations: Businessman Boby Chemmanur has been denied bail by the Judicial First Class Magistrate-II, Ernakulam, in connection with allegations of obscene remarks and inappropriate behavior against a Malayalam actress. The court has remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days. Boby, who was arrested on Wednesday, was presented before the court on Thursday morning, where his bail plea was also reviewed. Following the court's decision, reports suggest that he experienced physical discomfort.

According to a report by Mathrubhumi Online, the defense, led by Advocate B. Raman Pillai, argued that Boby had committed no offense and that the remarks in question referred to a character from the Mahabharata, not the actress. They dismissed the allegations as baseless and pointed out that the actress had delayed filing the complaint, an issue they claimed the police had failed to investigate.

The defense further noted that Boby and the actress had maintained a cordial relationship even after the event where the alleged incident occurred. They highlighted that the actress had participated in another event with Boby after the initial incident. The defense suggested the possibility of ulterior motives behind the complaint and requested the court to review video evidence of the event, which, according to the defense, the actress herself had publicly shared. They also expressed their willingness to submit Boby's passport to the court as a precautionary measure.

On the other hand, the prosecution strongly opposed the bail request, arguing that the allegations were serious and that Boby Chemmanur posed a flight risk. According to the Mathrubhumi Online report, the prosecution claimed that he repeatedly harassed the actress using suggestive language, touched her inappropriately without consent, and humiliated her in front of a large audience. They further alleged that Boby had shared visuals of the incident on social media, compounding the actress's distress.

Actress Provides Confidential Statement to Magistrate

Boby was arrested by a special team from the Ernakulam Central Police on Wednesday morning at an estate in Wayanad. He was transported to Kochi by evening, where his arrest was formally recorded after questioning. Police also seized Boby's phone, stating that it would undergo forensic examination.

Speaking to the media before entering the police station, Boby maintained his innocence, asserting that his remarks were misinterpreted. Meanwhile, the actress reportedly provided a confidential statement to the magistrate, with reports suggesting that she may have leveled additional accusations.
