Chotta Mumbai Re-Release Kerala Box Office 6-Day Collection

Chotta Mumbai Re-Release Kerala Box Office Collection: The digitally remastered version of Chotta Mumbai continues to draw audiences across Kerala, with early estimates indicating a six-day box office gross of approximately ₹2.63 crore. The 2007 Mohanlal-led action comedy, re-released in 4K Dolby Atmos on June 6, has found takers among both longtime fans and a younger audience discovering the cult favorite for the first time.

According to film industry tracker AB George, the film earned around ₹26 lakh on its sixth day (June 11) in Kerala, maintaining a steady performance since its opening. The re-release has particularly resonated in urban centers, with theaters in major cities registering healthy occupancy during evening and weekend shows.

Cult Comedy Returns to Theatres with Steady Box Office Run

Directed by Anwar Rasheed and scripted by Benny P. Nayarambalam, Chotta Mumbai follows the escapades of Vasco da Gama (Mohanlal), known locally as "Thala," and his group of friends in Fort Kochi. Their lives, defined by petty crimes and carefree pursuits, take a sharp turn after a failed visa scam lands them in deeper trouble. The plot weaves in themes of familial tension, mistaken identities, and criminal entanglements-elements that, over the years, helped solidify the film's place in Malayalam pop culture.

The film's ensemble cast includes Kalabhavan Mani as the corrupt cop Nadeshan, alongside Siddique, Jagathy Sreekumar, Indrajith Sukumaran, Bhavana, and Sai Kumar in pivotal roles. The soundtrack by Rahul Raj, particularly the high-energy "Vasco da Gama" track, remains widely recognized.

Chotta Mumbai was a commercial success upon its original release and has maintained a strong following since. Its return to theaters has been accompanied by nostalgia-driven promotions and has coincided with a recent trend of re-releasing popular Malayalam titles in upgraded formats.

With one weekend already completed and another approaching, trade analysts expect the film to add further to its box office tally before shows begin to taper off. Whether the momentum continues beyond the first full week remains to be seen, but for now, the film appears to have found a renewed space in Kerala's theaters.
