Chotta Mumbai Re-Release Worldwide Box Office Collection

Chotta Mumbai Re-Release Worldwide Box Office Collection: Chotta Mumbai, the 2007 Malayalam action-comedy film starring Mohanlal, has made a solid comeback at the box office with its 4K Dolby Atmos re-release. The digitally remastered version hit screens on June 6, 2025, and has garnered an impressive response from audiences across Kerala and beyond.

According to early estimates shared by film industry tracker AB George on X (formerly Twitter), Chotta Mumbai collected ₹37 lakh on Day 1 in Kerala. Day 2 saw a significant jump, with the film earning ₹59 lakh, bringing the two-day Kerala gross to ₹96 lakh. The film's global gross over the same period has crossed ₹1.05 crore, indicating interest from Malayalam film audiences both in and outside India.

The re-release marks yet another successful outing for a Mohanlal movie, following the theatrical rereleases of Spadikam, Devadoothan, and Manichithrathazhu, which also found renewed box office success. Chotta Mumbai was originally released in 2007 and has since achieved cult status for its blend of humor, stylized action, and memorable performances.

Nostalgic Action-Comedy Returns to Theaters with Enhanced Visuals and Sound

Helmed by Anwar Rasheed and penned by Benny P. Nayarambalam, the film revolves around Vasco da Gama, also known as Thala, a local thug in Fort Kochi who, along with his gang, gets pulled into a web of crime and chaos after falling for a visa scam. The plot thickens when the group becomes entangled in a murder case involving the corrupt police officer CI Nadeshan.

The ensemble cast includes Kalabhavan Mani, Siddique, Jagathy Sreekumar, Indrajith Sukumaran, Bhavana, and Sai Kumar, among others. Rahul Raj's music and Alagappan N's cinematography were highlights of the original film, both of which have been enhanced for this remastered version.

Industry insiders note that the weekend performance will be crucial in determining the re-release's long-term theatrical run. With positive word-of-mouth and nostalgia driving footfall, Chotta Mumbai is likely to maintain its momentum through the third day, which coincides with the Sunday weekend peak.

More updates on the film's performance are expected once third-day numbers come in.
