Detective Ujjwalan OTT Release: Detective Ujjwalan, the Malayalam mystery comedy starring Dhyan Sreenivasan, is set to make its digital debut on Netflix. The film will begin streaming on July 11, 2025, and will be available in Malayalam. The platform confirmed the release through an official post on its social media channels.

Directed by Indraneel Gopeekrishnan and Rahul G, Detective Ujjwalan is the second entry in the Weekend Cinematic Universe, following the 2021 superhero film Minnal Murali. The film is produced by Sophia Paul under the banner of Weekend Blockbusters.

Detective Ujjwalan: Mystery comedy now set for digital debut

The movie, which combines elements of mystery and satire, was released theatrically on May 23, 2025. Set and shot in the Palakkad district of Kerala, the production began in mid-November 2024 and concluded by the end of December. Key shooting locations included Kollengode, Nenmara, Shoranur, and Pattambi.

Dhyan Sreenivasan leads the cast in the role of Ujjwalan, a detective character at the heart of the narrative. He is joined by Siju Wilson and Rony David Raj in prominent roles, with supporting performances from Kottayam Nazeer, Seema G Nair, Ameen, Nihal Nizam, Nibraz Noushad, and others.

The music of Detective Ujjwalan features a mix of songs and background score. Rzee composed the film's music, while the BGM and trailer music were composed and produced by Sibi Mathew Alex, with lyrics by Ann Lilly Jose and vocals by the composer himself. Arun Kamath also contributed vocals to the film, with Sankar Sharma providing additional programming for the background music.

Behind the scenes, the film's cinematography was handled by Prem Akkattu and Sraiyanti, while editing was overseen by Chaman Chakko. The project was guided by executive producer Manuel Cruz Darwin, with design contributions from Cedin Paul and Kevin Paul.

With the arrival of Detective Ujjwalan on Netflix, viewers who missed its theatrical run will now have a chance to catch the film from home. As Netflix continues to expand its regional content offerings, this release adds another title to its growing library of Malayalam films.
