Dheeran X Review: Dheeran, the directorial debut of Devadath Shaji-best known for scripting the 2022 action drama Bheeshma Parvam-made its theatrical release on July 4, 2025. As the film opened across cinemas today, early audience reactions have begun to trickle in on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), with more engagement expected to grow in the coming hours and over the weekend.
The Malayalam action comedy follows the character Eldhose, a well-intentioned village man whose acts of bravery often result in unintended chaos. According to the official synopsis, Dheeran weaves its humour around a group of eccentric villagers who set out on a mission-driven road trip. As their journey unfolds, they encounter a chain of unpredictable events and revelations that alter the course of their adventure. What begins as a simple plan soon leads to a sequence of unexpected events, blending situational comedy with themes of community and redemption.
Old Faces, New Voices: Dheeran Rolls Out Onscreen
The film stars Rajesh Madhavan in the lead, supported by a cast that includes Manoj K Jayan, Jagadish, Ashokan, Sudheesh, Vineeth, Abhiram, Shabareesh, Aswathy Manoharan, Sidharth Bharathan, Srikrishna Dayal, and Indumathy Manikandan. The ensemble features a mix of veteran actors and newer faces, reflecting the film's intent to balance nostalgia with fresh storytelling.
Behind the scenes, Dheeran brings together a notable technical team. Cinematography is handled by Harikrishnan Lohithadas, while editing and creative direction are overseen by Finn George Varghese. The original score and background music are composed by Mujeeb Majeed. Production design is led by Sunil Kumaran, with sound design by Vicky and final mix by M. R. Rajakrishnan. Costumes were designed by Sameera Saneesh, and stunt sequences were coordinated by Mahesh Mathew, Mafia Sasi, and Ashraf Gurukkal.
Produced by Lakshmi Warrier and Ganesh Menon, with co-producers Sujith Kammath, Sinni Sujith, UVR Movies, and John P Abraham, Dheeran is distributed by ICON Cinemas. The film's post-production, including DI and colour grading, was completed at Saptha Vision, with Joyner Thomas as colourist. Digital marketing and PR efforts were managed by Vaisakh C Vadakkeveedu and Jinu Anilkumar. The soundtrack has been released under the Think Music label.
