The film, which marked Gautham Vasudev Menon's debut in Malayalam cinema and featured Mammootty in the lead, hit theaters on January 23, 2025, and has since generated anticipation for its digital streaming.

According to a report by Madhyamam, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the digital rights to the film. The OTT release was initially planned for 40 days after its theatrical premiere and was expected to debut on the platform by early March. However, as of mid-May, no streaming date has been confirmed. Reports suggest the delay is due to unresolved disagreements over the streaming rights fee, with negotiations between Amazon Prime Video and Mammootty's production house, Mammootty Kampany, reportedly stalled over contractual and financial differences.

However, it is important to note that these claims have not been confirmed by either party. Both the production house and the streaming platform have remained silent regarding the film's digital release.

Dominic and the Ladies' Purse is a genre-blending thriller that follows the journey of Dominic, a former police officer who now works as a private detective. The storyline is set in motion when Dominic takes on a case involving an abandoned purse. What starts as a routine assignment soon unravels into a larger investigation involving multiple missing women, a suspicious healthcare facility, and a network of criminal activities.

Joining him are Vignesh, his assistant, and Nandhitha, a character who initially appears to be a dancer but is later revealed to have a deeper connection to the case. As the mystery deepens, Dominic finds himself navigating a network of deceit, crime, and institutional silence, ultimately leading him to confront a larger conspiracy.

Mammootty leads the ensemble cast as CI Dominic, supported by Gokul Suresh (Vignesh), Sushmitha Bhat (Nandhitha), Siddique, Vineeth, Vijay Babu, Viji Venkatesh, and Meenakshi Unnikrishnan, among others. Gautham Vasudev Menon also appears in the film as Ibrahim Mooppan, marking his acting presence in addition to directorial duties.

The screenplay was co-written by Dr. Neeraj Rajan, Dr. Sooraj Rajan, and Gautham Vasudev Menon, while the cinematography was handled by Vishnu R. Dev. Darbuka Siva composed the music, and Lewellyn Anthony edited the film.

The project was officially announced in July 2024 under the working title Production No: 6, referring to its place in Mammootty Kampany's lineup. The final title was revealed in September, and filming took place predominantly in Kochi.

Upon release, the film received mixed reviews from both critics and audiences. While some viewers engaged with the investigative storyline and genre blend, others pointed out inconsistencies in tone and execution. Despite the divided response, the film generated curiosity due to the novelty of Gautham Vasudev Menon's Malayalam debut and his collaboration with Mammootty.
