Empuraan Advance Booking Opening Day Collection: With just days to go for its grand release, Empuraan-the highly anticipated sequel to Lucifer-is already making waves with its record-breaking advance bookings. Starring Mohanlal in the lead and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film is set to redefine box office expectations for Malayalam cinema. Early pre-sales figures suggest that Empuraan is poised to deliver one of the biggest opening day collections in Mollywood history, surpassing some of the industry's previous top-grossers.

Breaking Records Even Before Release

According to industry tracker AB George, Empuraan is expected to exceed the opening day collections of its predecessor Lucifer (₹14.80 crores) as well as recent Malayalam blockbusters like King of Kotha (₹15.50 crores), Aadujeevitham (₹16.04 crores), and Turbo (₹16.20 crores). With advance ticket sales soaring, the film is on course to enter the elite top five highest first-day grossers in Malayalam cinema.

The highest opening day collections in Mollywood currently belong to Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham with ₹20.40 crores, followed by Kurup at ₹19.20 crores and Odiyan at ₹18.10 crores. Turbo secured ₹16.20 crores, while Aadujeevitham collected ₹16.04 crores on its opening day.

Given the frenzy surrounding Empuraan, industry experts believe it could challenge the highest-ranked Marakkar for the number one position in opening day earnings.

A Sequel with Grand Aspirations

The success of Lucifer in 2019 laid the foundation for Empuraan, which was always envisioned as part of a trilogy. Prithviraj and writer Murali Gopy have expanded the scope of the sequel, taking the narrative beyond Indian borders. The film, jointly produced by Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions, features an ensemble cast, including Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, and international actors like Jerome Flynn and Eriq Ebouaney.

A Global Release with IMAX Experience

Shot across multiple locations, including the UK, UAE, and the US, Empuraan boasts high production values, making it the first Malayalam film to be released in IMAX format. With its worldwide theatrical release set for March 27, 2025, the film is expected to draw huge crowds not just in India but also in overseas markets.

With record-breaking pre-sales figures, Empuraan is all set to make history. Whether it can surpass Marakkar remains to be seen, but Mohanlal's return as Stephen Nedumpally is highly anticipated.
