Empuraan Advance Sales: With just an hour to go before its grand release, Empuraan has already made waves at the box office, setting new records with its advance sales. The Malayalam action thriller, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and penned by Murali Gopy, is the much-anticipated follow-up to the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. According to his post, Empuraan has amassed ₹52.28 crores in advance bookings for its opening day alone, while its opening weekend pre-sales have already crossed ₹85 crores. This phenomenal response has put the film's earnings on par with the final box office collections of major Malayalam hits like Bheeshmaparvam, Neru, and Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil, while surpassing the total earnings of RDX and Kannur Squad.

Given the immense anticipation and record-breaking advance bookings, industry insiders are predicting an explosive box office run, potentially making it the biggest Malayalam release of all time.

A Long-Awaited Sequel Comes to Life

The journey of Empuraan began in June 2019 when the sequel was officially announced following the massive success of Lucifer. However, unforeseen delays, including the COVID-19 pandemic, pushed back production plans. The script, meticulously crafted by Murali Gopy, took shape over several years, with filming finally commencing in October 2023.

The movie was shot across multiple locations, spanning India, the UK, the US, and the UAE, over an extensive 145-day schedule. The film is a joint production of Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies, with Lyca Productions presenting it.
