Empuraan Box Office Collection: The Malayalam action thriller Empuraan had its worldwide premiere on March 27, 2025. Helmed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and penned by Murali Gopy, the film serves as the second installment in the planned Lucifer trilogy, with Mohanlal in the lead role. Backed by Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies and presented by Lyca Productions, the film also features Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Jerome Flynn, and Eriq Ebouaney in key roles.

According to film industry tracker AB George's X (formerly Twitter) post, Empuraan is witnessing a massive surge at the Kerala box office on Eid, with early end-of-day (EOD) estimates surpassing ₹8.5 crore. Describing the film's performance, he stated that theaters from Kasargod to Thiruvananthapuram are seeing tremendous footfall. Meanwhile, industry tracker Forum Reelz also reported strong figures, claiming that the film has already locked in over ₹9 crore on its Eid day run.
Empuraan Synopsis
Set against the backdrop of the 2002 Gujarat riots, a young Zayed is forced to escape after his family is brutally killed. He is rescued by Khureshi Ab'raam, under whose mentorship he grows, driven by a thirst for vengeance. Years later, political dynamics in Kerala take a turn as Jathin Ramdas forges an alliance with Balraj, now known as Baba Bajrangi. As global conspiracies unravel, Stephen Nedumpally-who secretly lives as Ab'raam-returns to settle unfinished business.
Empuraan Cast And Crew
Mohanlal starred as Khureshi Ab'raam/Stephen Nedumpally, while Prithviraj Sukumaran played Zayed Masood Azhar, with Karthikeya Dev as young Zayed. Manju Warrier portrayed Priyadarshini Ramdas, and Abhimanyu Singh played Balraj Patel (Baba Bajrangi). The cast also featured Tovino Thomas as Jathin Ramdas, Indrajith Sukumaran as Govardhan, Andrea Tivadar as Michele Menuhin, Jerome Flynn as Boris Oliver, and Eriq Ebouaney as Kabuga.
Additional roles were played by Kishore (Karthik), Suraj Venjaramoodu (Sajanachandran), Nikhat Khan (Subhadra Ben), Saniya Iyappan (Jhanvi), and Fazil (Father Nedumpally). Notable appearances included Sachin Khedekar as P. K. Ramdas (PKR), Saikumar as Mahesha Varma, Baiju Santhosh as Murukan, and Rick Yune as the Shenlong "Shen" Triad leader. Cameos featured Kalabhavan Shajohn, Antony Perumbavoor, and Aashish Joe Antony.
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan was written by Murali Gopy and produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan under Sree Gokulam Movies and Aashirvad Cinemas. Sujith Vaassudev handled cinematography, Akhilesh Mohan edited the film, and Deepak Dev composed the music.
The technical team included art director Mohandas, stunt coordinator Stunt Silva, and costume designer Sujith Sudhakaran. VFX was supervised by Praveen Ghanta, with contributions from YFX Studios and other teams. DI and color grading were done at Annapurna Studios by Vivek Anand. Promotions were managed by Poffactio, with Sinat Savier handling still photography and Anand Rajendran (Illuminartist) overseeing design.
