Empuraan Controversy

Do you believe the makers of L2: Empuraan are at wrong here? If you are not aware of what's happening around, let us help you walk through the controversy. Mohanlal's recently released movie Empuraan has sparked controversy as it depicts scenes from the 2002 Gujarat riots. It is believed that the movie has shown Hindus at fault and committing violence against the Muslims during the riot. The scene did not sit well with the right-wing and they are now protesting against the movie, demanding to cut around 17 scenes, as per Indian Express' reports. Recently, FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) stood in favor of Empuraan makers.

FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) has issued an official statement amid the controversy around Empuraan. In a Facebook post, the federation called out the backlashes the makers of Empuraan has been facing. They stated, "We welcome criticism of the film's form and content without any compromises. Only through constructive criticism can an art form truly evolve. However, we firmly believe that criticism should not descend into personal attacks, threats, or branding, regardless of political or religious affiliations. The aim of any meaningful debate is not to silence those standing on the other side, but to let them speak (sic)."

The federation further stated a quote from 'The Old Man and the Sea' by Earnest Hermingway, "A man can be destroyed but not defeated."
