Empuraan Gulf Advance Bookings: Starring a plethora of talented actors like Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and Indrajith among others, Prithviraj Sukumaran's directorial political action-thriller led by Mohanlal titled Empuraan, is going all guns blazing at the pre-sales ahead of its highly-hyped and awaited theatrical debut on March 27. The movie now surpassed the rest of the pan-India films and set a new benchmark in advance bookings in Kerala, and India.

The sequel to Lucifer, which was released to critical acclaim in 2021, Empuraan, is now hitting the screens as a pan-India film in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada along with Malayalam. Post the theatrical trailer release, the subtle hype broke open into a wildfire with earth-shattering advance booking figures especially in Kerala, India, and worldwide. The producers spent Rs 180 Crore on the making of L2E aka Empuraan and every penny was spent on the filmmaking, said Pirthviraj Sukumaran in his recent interviews.

The production of Empuraan was mounted on a large scale owing to the success of Lucifer. Prithviraj Sukumaran had to say no to several films in the last two years for directing Empuraan. The team travelled to Faridabad, Shimla, Leh, UK, the US, Chennai, Gujarat, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kerala, and the UAE to film several sequences in the film starring the veteran. There will be another instalment to the Lucifer series after Empuraan, which was originally conceived as a web series.

The action-thriller's cinematography was handled by Sujith Vaassudev and edited by Akhilesh Mohan. Deepak Dev composed the film's entire music and sound. Murali Gopy wrote the movie's story and script.

According to the latest update that is going viral, Lucifer is not supposedly the movie which was conceived by Murali Gopy under the title. He and the late director Rajesh Pillai worked on a story for several years. They also got the title 'Lucifer' registered. The movie was supposed to take off with Mohanlal as the lead but it is entirely a different story from what Prithviraj Sukumaran's Lucifer was.

According to a report on Eenadu, the original story of Lucifer by Rajesh Pillai and Murali Gopy was supposed to take off in 2014 but didn't materialize. Unfortunately, in 2016, Rajesh Pillai succumbed to his health issues. Later, with another plotline which Murali Gopy narrated to Mohanlal during the filming of 'Odiyan,' Prithviraj Sukumaran came on board after wanting to try his hands at direction.

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Murali Gopy then borrowed the title 'Lucifer' and began working on the movie in 2016. The actor-filmmaker then bought a flat exclusively in Kochi for the production of Lucifer.
