Empuraan Box Office Collection: Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, premiered worldwide on March 27, 2025. Written by Murali Gopy, it is the second installment in the planned Lucifer trilogy. Produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies, with Lyca Productions presenting, the film stars Mohanlal, Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and others. It is the first Malayalam film released in IMAX.
According to Comscore, a leading global media measurement and analytics company, Empuraan secured the No. 3 spot at the global box office for the March 27-30 weekend. The much-anticipated Mohanlal starrer made an impressive debut, with Comscore estimating its earnings at $19.43 million.
Empuraan Synopsis
Amidst the 2002 Gujarat riots, young Zayed loses his family to brutal violence and is drawn into a path of vengeance under the enigmatic Khureshi Ab'raam. Years later, Kerala's Chief Minister Jathin Ramdas allies with a rising nationalist force, unknowingly reigniting old conflicts. As political tensions and global conspiracies collide, Ab'raam returns, setting the stage for a final reckoning.
Empuraan Cast And Crew
Empuraan features an extensive ensemble cast, with Mohanlal reprising his role as Khureshi Ab'raam, also known as Stephen Nedumpally, and Prithviraj Sukumaran portraying Zayed Masood Azhar. Karthikeya Dev appears as young Zayed, while Manju Warrier plays Priyadarshini Ramdas. Abhimanyu Singh takes on the role of Balraj Patel, also known as Baba Bajrangi, and Tovino Thomas plays Jathin Ramdas. Indrajith Sukumaran appears as Govardhan, Andrea Tivadar as Michele Menuhin, and Jerome Flynn as Boris Oliver. Kishore plays Karthik, while Sukant Goel takes on the role of Munna. Suraj Venjaramoodu portrays Sajanachandran, and Eriq Ebouaney plays Kabuga. Nikhat Khan appears as Subhadra Ben, Saniya Iyappan as Jhanvi, and Fazil as Father Nedumpally. Sachin Khedekar plays P. K. Ramdas, known as PKR, while Saikumar portrays Mahesha Varma. Baiju Santhosh plays Murukan, Nandhu appears as P. S. Peethambaran, and Shivaji Guruvayoor plays Medayil Rajan. Aneesh G. Menon, Manikuttan, and Nyla Usha portray Sumesh, Mani, and Arundathi Sanjeev, respectively. Giju John plays Sanjeev Kumar, Satyajit Sharma portrays Masood Azhar, and Oziel Jivani plays Zaheer Masood Azhar. Aishwarya Ohja, Nayan Bhatt, and Shubhangi Latkar appear as Haniya, Suraiya Bibi, and Bahija Begum.
The cast also includes Alexx O'Nell as Robert McCarthy, Mikhail Novikov as Sergei Leonov, Murugan Martin as Muthu, and Behzaad Khan as Salabath Hamza. Sshivada appears as Sreelekha, Jaise Jose as Xavier, and Kalabhavan Shajohn makes a cameo as Aloshy Joseph. Shaun Romy plays Aparna, with Kainakary Thankaraj appearing in a photo presence as Nedumpally Krishnan. Antony Perumbavoor and Aashish Joe Antony make cameo appearances as Daniel Rawuther and a hitman, respectively, while Rick Yune appears in a cameo as the leader of the Shenlong "Shen" Triad.
Empuraan is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy, with Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan producing the film under Sree Gokulam Movies and Aashirvad Cinemas Pvt Ltd. Sujith Vaassudev handles cinematography, while Deepak Dev composes the music. Akhilesh Mohan serves as the editor, and project design is managed by Prithviraj Productions. Executive producers Suresh Balaje and George Pius oversee production, with Sidhu Panakkal as the production controller. Mohandas is the art director, Don Max is responsible for teaser cuts, and Vava is the chief associate director. Creative direction is handled by Nirmal Sahadev, and sound design is by M R Rajakrishnan. Finance is managed by Manoharan K Payyannur, with stunt sequences coordinated by Stunt Silva. Costume design is by Sujith Sudhakaran, while Sreejith Guruvayoor handles makeup.
