Empuraan OTT Release Date And Platform Announced: Here's When And Where To Watch Mohanlal's Movie Online

Empuraan OTT Release: After its theatrical run, Empuraan (L2: Empuraan), the second installment in the planned Lucifer trilogy, is set to make its digital debut. Aashirvad Cinemas has officially announced that the Mohanlal-starrer will begin streaming on JioHotstar from April 24.

Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy, Empuraan was conceived as part of a three-film series from the outset. Released in theaters on March 27, 2025, in standard, IMAX, and EPIQ formats, the film went on to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time.

Empuraan Synopsis

Set against the backdrop of communal violence and political unrest, Empuraan follows the rise of Khureshi Ab'raam, a man with a buried past and a vendetta to settle. As corruption, crime syndicates, and shifting alliances shake India and beyond, Ab'raam returns to orchestrate a reckoning, paving the way for new leadership while confronting enemies from both his past and present.

Empuraan Cast And Crew

Empuraan features an extensive ensemble cast led by Mohanlal, with Pranav Mohanlal and Adarsh portraying younger versions of his character. The film also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Karthikeya Dev, Abhimanyu Singh, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Kishore, Indrajith Sukumaran, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jerome Flynn, Andrea Tivadar, Baiju Santhosh, and Saikumar. Supporting roles include Sukant Goel, Eriq Ebouaney, Fazil, Sachin Khedekar, Nandhu, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Aneesh G. Menon, and several others. The film also features cameos from Antony Perumbavoor, Aashish Joe Antony, and Rick Yune.

Empuraan is directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Gokulam Gopalan under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas Pvt Ltd and Sree Gokulam Movies. Sujith Vaassudev handled cinematography, while Deepak Dev composed the music and Akhilesh Mohan served as the editor. Executive producers include Suresh Balaje and George Pius, with project design by Prithviraj Productions. The production team also includes Sidhu Panakkal as production controller, Mohandas as art director, Don Max for teaser cuts, and Vava as chief associate director. Nirmal Sahadev worked as creative director, and sound design was by M R Rajakrishnan. Finance was overseen by Manoharan K Payyannur. Stunt Silva choreographed action sequences, with costumes by Sujith Sudhakaran and makeup by Sreejith Guruvayoor. Praveen Ghanta supervised VFX, which was handled by YFX Studios, Labyrinth Studios-Mumbai, Binary Circus, Paperplane, Ident, and DTM. Huseini Barodawala was the YFX producer. SFX was managed by Vishal Tyagi. The direction team also included first associate director Renith Ravindran and production executives Saji Joseph and Sethu Adoor. Basil M Babu served as finance manager, and Sasidharan Kandanassery as production manager. RP Bala directed the multilingual dubbing. DI was done at Annapurna Studios, with Vivek Anand as colorist.
