Empuraan To Start Streaming From Tomorrow: Mohanlal-Starrer Heads To OTT After Theatrical Run

Empuraan OTT Release: Following its theatrical release on March 27, L2: Empuraan, the second installment in the planned Lucifer trilogy, is set to begin its digital streaming journey. The film will be available on JioHotstar from April 24 in Malayalam, as well as in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada dubbed versions.
The film marks the continuation of a saga that began with Lucifer (2019), a political thriller that introduced audiences to the character of Stephen Nedumpally/ Khureshi-Ab'raam, played by Mohanlal. The sequel, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy, expands the narrative across global and domestic political arenas, diving deeper into the character's past and the complex web of political, criminal, and personal relationships that surround him.
Empuraan is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas, in collaboration with Gokulam Gopalan of Sree Gokulam Movies. Filming took place over a span of 145 days between October 2023 and December 2024, across multiple countries including India, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. With a production budget estimated at ₹180 crore, the film was released in standard, IMAX, and EPIQ formats.
Despite receiving mixed critical responses and sparking debates over its portrayal of the 2002 Gujarat riots, Empuraan performed well at the box office, ultimately becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam-language film of all time.
