Superstar Rajinikanth Praises Empuraan Trailer: Ahead of the highly anticipated theatrical trailer drop of the Mohanlal-starrer sequel directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan aka Lucifer 2, superstar Rajinikanth gives out positive vibes about the movie and its glimpse. Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is working on Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli's prestigious SSMB 29 project took a bit of time away from the schedule to meet up with Rajinikanth and show him the trailer.

Empuraan is a joint production venture of Subaskaran Allirajah's Lyca Production banner and Mohanlal's Aashirvad Cinemas. Lyca Production is making their Malayalam debut with Mohanlal's film which is going to hit the screens worldwide in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi on March 27.

Taking to his social media handles, filmmaker-actor Prithviraj Sukumar, who was clearly starstruck by the legendary superstar Rajinikanth shared a picture of them together. He captioned it, "The very first person to watch the trailer of #L2E #EMPURAAN I will forever cherish what you said after watching it Sir! This meant the world to me! Fanboy forever!

Prithviraj Sukumaran wanted to showcase the special reel for his most favourite person Rajinikanth. He showed the trailer first to Rajinikanth, who just wrapped the shooting of his most exciting project with Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie. The veteran was impressed by the trailer and is said to have heaped praise on the filmmaker and Mohanlal.

The theatrical glimpse of the hyped sequel will be out on March 20 and will be screened at an IMAX. Further details will be out shortly.

Lucifer was produced by Mohanlal's home banner Aashirvaad Films, helmed by Antony Perumbavoor. The movie which was released in March 2019 was made on a budget of Rs 30 Crore. It went on to break many records by earning about Rs 127 Crore gross at the worldwide box office. The first instalment featured actors Vivek Oberoi, Kalabhavan Shajohn, and Saniya Iyappan among others, who are reprising their roles in Empuraan.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, writer Murali Gopy used his time to elaborate the scale and graph of the sequel, making it suitable for a pan-India appeal. The movie spent quite sometime in production ever since. Later, after it went on the floors, Empuraan was filmed across the UK, the USA, UAE, Kerala, Chennai, Shimla, Leh, Gujarat, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

L2: Empuraan Synopsis

The movie picks up from where Lucifer left off. It follows the life of Stephen Nedumpally, who is also living another life as Kureshi Ab'raam, a powerful crime syndicate kingpin. His journey takes a new turn after family secrets emerge, unravelling a deadly game of power, survival, and revenge.

The unit will begin work on the third instalment after Prithviraj Sukumaran gets a bit of leisure from his other projects including SS Rajamouli-Mahesh Babu's SSMB29.

The action-thrillers cinematography was handled by Sujith Vaassudev and edited by Akhilesh Mohan. Deepak Dev composed the film's entire music and sound. Murali Gopy wrote the movie's story and script. Prithviraj Sukumaran not only acted in the film but also directed it.
