HIT 3 Kerala Opening Day Box Office Collection: How Did Nani's Movie Perform Compared To Suriya's Retro?

HIT 3 Kerala Box Office Collection: HIT: The Third Case, the latest installment in the popular HIT franchise, opened in theaters on May 1, 2025, amid high expectations. Directed by Sailesh Kolanu and produced by Nani under the banners of Wall Poster Cinema and Unanimous Productions, this action thriller stars Nani and Srinidhi Shetty in lead roles. The film, which continues the story from HIT: The Second Case (2022), has generated significant buzz leading up to its release.
HIT 3 Kerala Box Office Day 1 Collection
As per the latest box office data from industry tracker AB George, HIT 3 grossed ₹20 lakh on its opening day in Kerala. While this is a respectable figure, it falls significantly short compared to the opening day earnings of Suriya's Retro. To put things in perspective, Retro, another high-profile release on the same day, grossed over ₹2.5 crore in Kerala alone, marking a considerable gap between the two films.
In terms of market performance, HIT 3 has seen a more modest reception, with the numbers reflecting a mixed audience response. Despite the popularity of the HIT series and Nani's star power, the collection figures suggest that the film has yet to achieve the impact of Retro, which has become Suriya's highest opening day earner in recent times, second only to Kanguva.
HIT: The Third Case follows the character Arjun Sarkaar, played by Nani, as he investigates a series of murders that take him across various parts of India. The film is noted for its intense and bloody scenes, earning it an "A" certificate from the CBFC. However, some cuts and blur effects were implemented to tone down the excessive gore.
The post-theatrical streaming rights for HIT 3 have been secured by Netflix, which could boost the film's reach among viewers eagerly awaiting its OTT release. However, the official streaming date has not yet been announced.
As of now, the future of HIT 3 depends on its continued performance in the coming days. While its opening day numbers indicate a modest reception, the film's success will largely be determined by how it performs in the coming weeks, as audience reactions and word-of-mouth may influence its box office trajectory.
