The film's release was delayed following objections from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Initially scheduled to hit screens on June 20, it was postponed due to issues raised during the certification process. The primary objection from the CBFC centered on the use of the name Janaki for the lead character and in the film's title, which led to a delay in certification. After a legal dispute between the filmmakers and the board, the film was finally cleared for release and hit theatres on July 17.
