Kalamkaval is set against the backdrop of early-2000s Kerala and centers on Officer Jayakrishnan, who is assigned to probe the circumstances surrounding a communal clash in the southern part of the state. What begins as a seemingly isolated disturbance gradually expands into a larger investigation, revealing troubling connections to a pattern of missing young women reported over several years. As the officer moves through various communities and digs through official records, he encounters individuals unwilling to speak, layers of conflicting accounts, and a trail that grows more complicated the deeper he goes.
The cast includes Mammootty and Vinayakan in lead roles, supported by Gibin Gopinath, Gayatri Arun, Rajisha Vijayan, and Shruti Ramachandran. Behind the scenes, the project brings together a wide team: Jithin K. Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar on story and screenplay, Faisal Ali handling cinematography, Mujeeb Majeed composing the music, and Praveen Prabhakar serving as editor. The film's technical work includes sound design by Kishan Mohan, VFX supervision by S. Santhosh Raju, and colour grading by Liju Prabhakar.
With December 11 marking Day 7 of its release, updated box office numbers are expected to arrive later in the day as more shows conclude.
