Kalamkaval First Review (Pre-Release): John Brittas' Remarks On Mammootty's Role Gain Attention

Kalamkaval First Review Pre-Release John Brittas Remarks

Kalamkaval Pre-Release Insights: As the Malayalam crime thriller Kalamkaval prepares for its theatrical release on December 5, 2025, early impressions from pre-release events and interviews are giving audiences a glimpse into the film's narrative and character dynamics. Directed by debutant Jithin K. Jose, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jishnu Sreekumar, the film features Mammootty and Vinayakan in the lead roles, with Gibin Gopinath and Rajisha Vijayan in supporting roles. Produced under the banner of Mammootty Kampany, the film is drawing attention for its darker tone and Mammootty's role in a crime investigation set in rural Kerala.

The film centers around a seemingly routine Kerala Police inquiry in the quiet village of Kottayikonam. What begins as a minor investigation gradually unravels a series of disturbing cases, exposing long-unsolved mysteries. The narrative explores the challenges faced by investigators as they navigate through obstructions and intricate strategies, highlighting both the procedural and psychological aspects of crime-solving.

John Brittas' Interview Revisited

In a video interview released by The Cue on October 30, 2024, parliamentarian and journalist John Brittas recounted his conversation with Mammootty. His remarks are once again gaining attention as Kalamkaval approaches its release.

John Brittas' words: "While we were talking about cinema, he told me that in his new film, he plays the villain, a character depicted as a major sexual predator. So I asked him whether that would upset his fans. Mammootty replied, 'What fans? Aren't we constantly doing experiments anyway?' In my opinion, is there any other actor who experiments to this extent? It is truly astonishing. Perhaps for Mammookka, continuing with such experiments is the best choice now, because there is nothing in particular left for him to achieve. Whatever remains to be achieved can, in fact, be achieved only through experiments, through new kinds of experiments."

Meanwhile, during the recent pre-release event of Kalamkaval, Mammootty said, "While you watch this film, you won't be able to like me or stand with me. But when you come out after watching the film, my character will not leave you. The Nayakan (hero) of this film is Vinayakan. I am also Nayakan, but I am the Prathinayakan (antagonist)."

Kalamkaval Technical Crew

Technically, Kalamkaval brings together a team of professionals across departments, including Faisal Ali as director of photography, Mujeeb Majeed handling music, and Praveen Prabhakar in charge of editing. Production design is managed by Shajie Naduvil, with stunts choreographed by Action Santhosh. The film also utilizes VFX from Vishwa Fx, with supervision by S Santhosh Raju.

With its mix of crime procedural elements, a rural setting, and complex characters, Kalamkaval is scheduled for release tomorrow. Audiences and critics will be watching how the interactions between Mammootty's antagonist and Vinayakan's protagonist shape the narrative and the unfolding of events in the film.
