Kalamkaval Monday Occupancy: Mammootty-Vinayakan's Crime Thriller Sees Modest Footfall On Day 4

Kalamkaval Monday Occupancy: Mammootty's latest Malayalam outing, Kalamkaval, recorded a modest start to its fourth day at the box office on Monday. According to Sacnilk's data, the film registered an overall occupancy of 14.91% in Kerala for morning shows, reflecting a dip compared to the weekend performance.
The film, a crime thriller set in early-2000s Kerala, is directed by debutant Jithin K. Jose, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jishnu Sreekumar. Produced under the Mammootty Kampany banner, Kalamkaval features Mammootty in the lead alongside Vinayakan, with Gibin Gopinath, Gayatri Arun, Rajisha Vijayan, and Shruti Ramachandran in supporting roles.
Kalamkaval Day-Wise Box Office Collection
Over its opening weekend, the film collected approximately ₹16.35 crore at the Indian box office. Day-wise collections showed a steady, albeit moderate, increase: ₹5 crore on Friday, ₹5.5 crore on Saturday, and an estimated ₹5.85 crore on Sunday. Monday's figures suggest that weekday attendance has slowed down, a trend not uncommon for the majority of releases following a strong weekend.
Storyline and Technical Team Behind the Film
Kalamkaval revolves around Officer Jayakrishnan, whose investigation into a communal clash in southern Kerala uncovers deeper, more troubling patterns involving missing women. The storyline follows his pursuit of the truth as he navigates reluctant witnesses, village networks, and a series of complex connections underlying the incidents.
Faisal Ali handled cinematography, Mujeeb Majeed composed the music, and Praveen Prabhakar edited the film. The production design was led by Shajie Naduvil, while VFX was supervised by S. Santhosh Raju. Action sequences were coordinated by Santhosh, and Sapthaa Records managed sound recording.
Kerala distribution is managed by Wayfarer Films, with overseas rights partnered through Truth Global Films. As the film progresses through weekdays, box office analysts will be observing whether Kalamkaval can maintain momentum or if audience interest will stabilize at a lower range typical of post-weekend weekdays in regional cinema.
