Kerala Crime Files Season 2 OTT Release: The Malayalam-language crime drama Kerala Crime Files is set to return with its second season, titled Kerala Crime Files Season 2 - The Search for CPO Ambili Raju. According to an official announcement from the platform, the new season will premiere on June 20 exclusively on JioHotstar.

Building on the momentum of its first season, which followed a police investigation into a brutal murder in Ernakulam, Season 2 shifts its focus to Thiruvananthapuram. This time, the storyline revolves around the sudden disappearance of a police officer, CPO Ambili Raju, played by veteran actor Indrans.

The promotional material released so far hints at a much wider internal crisis within the police department. The first trailer had already sparked interest by revealing that five station house officers and nearly a dozen civil police officers across the Trivandrum district were suspended, suggesting their possible involvement in a serious and possibly systemic crime. The second trailer, released alongside the premiere date announcement on June 14, brings CPO Ambili Raju into sharp focus, making his absence a central mystery around which the narrative is expected to revolve.

The new season is directed and co-produced by Ahammed Khabeer under the Monkey Business banner. The script, screenplay, and dialogues were written by Bahul Ramesh, who also served as the director of photography during the shoot. Filming began on February 19, 2024, in Thiruvananthapuram and wrapped up on April 29, after nearly two months of production. Post-production concluded by August 2024.

The cast includes Arjun Radhakrishnan, Aju Varghese, Lal, Indrans, Harisree Asokan, Renjit Shekar, Sanju Sanichen, Suresh Babu, and Navas Vallikunnu, among others. Behind the scenes, the series boasts a sizable crew, with Mahesh Bhuvanend handling editing, Hesham Abdul Wahab composing music, and Prathap Raveendran overseeing production design.

Kerala Crime Files Season 1 Overview

The first season, Kerala Crime Files - Shiju, Parayil Veedu, Neendakara, followed officers at the Ernakulam North police station as they worked against the clock to apprehend a killer. Released on what was then Disney+ Hotstar (now JioHotstar), the season was well-received for its realistic portrayal of procedural police work.

With Season 2, the makers appear to be expanding the narrative scope, delving into the vulnerabilities and fractures within the police force itself. Viewers can stream the new episodes starting June 20, only on JioHotstar.
