Kerala Crime Files Season 2 OTT Release: The Malayalam crime thriller Kerala Crime Files is set to return with a new season titled Kerala Crime Files Season 2 - The Search for CPO Ambili Raju. The series, which follows the investigative pursuits of police officers in Kerala, will premiere on June 20, 2025, exclusively on JioHotstar.

The second season, like its predecessor, is helmed by director Ahammed Khabeer and produced under the Monkey Business banner. The show will feature a fresh set of developments with actors Arjun Radhakrishnan, Aju Varghese, Lal, and Indrans in key roles. The series marks a continuation of the grounded crime procedural format that Season 1 was known for.

The first trailer, released earlier this year, hinted at a massive shake-up within the Trivandrum police department, revealing that five station house officers and around a dozen civil police officers were suspended. The circumstances behind the suspensions appear to be linked to an undisclosed crime, possibly central to this season's plot. A second trailer, launched on June 14 along with the release date announcement, shifts focus to CPO Ambili Raju, portrayed by veteran actor Indrans, whose mysterious disappearance forms the narrative core of the new season.

New Setting, Expanded Cast for the Second Season

Production for Season 2 began on February 19, 2024, and filming took place primarily in Thiruvananthapuram. The shooting was wrapped up by April 29, 2024, after nearly two months of on-location work. The post-production phase was completed by August of the same year.

The series has been written and shot by Bahul Ramesh, who also serves as the director of photography. Other key contributors to the crew include editor Mahesh Bhuvanend, music composer Hesham Abdul Wahab, production designer Prathap Raveendran, and sound designer Dhanush Nayanar.

Apart from the main cast, the second season features Harisree Asokan, Renjit Shekar, Sanju Sanichen, Suresh Babu, Navas Vallikunnu, Noorin Shereef, Jeo Baby, Shibla Fara, and Bilas Chandrahasan in supporting roles.

The first season of Kerala Crime Files, subtitled Shiju, Parayil Veedu, Neendakara, was released in 2023 and focused on officers from the Ernakulam North police station as they investigated a murder case. With Season 2 shifting its setting to the capital district and introducing a larger ensemble, the narrative appears to be expanding in both scale and complexity.
