L2: Empuraan Box Office Collection Day 2 Early Updates: Veteran actor Mohanlal and multi-faceted actor Prithviraj Sukumaran have been riding high on success after receiving rave reviews for their latest Malayalam-language pan-India action-thriller film 'L2: Empuraan' (L2E). Helmed by 'The GOAT Life' actor himself, the film marks both the prequel and sequel to his 2019 film 'Lucifer'. Given the massive pre-release buzz and the shattering advance booking, it was already anticipated that Lucifer 2 aka L2: Empuraan was gonna have an impressive box office opening. However, the film is facing a sharp drop today after the strong opening.

Reprising their respective roles from the first part, Mohanlal as as Khureshi Ab'raam /Stephen Nedumpally and Prithviraj as Zayed Masood, L2: Empuraan has become the highest-opening movie of all time in Kerala. Amid massive buzz, L2E hit cinemas worldwide yesterday (Thursday, March 27) and opened to a whopping box office collection of Rs 22 cr (including all languages), as per Sacnilk.
Day 1 (Thursday): ₹ 22 Cr (Mal: 19.45 Cr; Ka: 0.05 Cr; Te: 1.2 Cr; Ta: 0.8 Cr; Hi: 0.5 Cr)
Co-starring Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Warrier, Rick Yune, and Andrea Tivadar, among others in pivotal roles, the movie is said to mounted a staggering budget of Rs 180 cr.
As per Koimoi, before L2E, Thalapathy Vijay starrer 'Leo' was the only film that recorded a double digit opening in Kerala. This was something that even Pushpa 2, Baahubali 2 couldn't even break. But Mohanlal-Prithviraj Sukumaran's film has dethroned Leo and earned the tag of the highest-opening film in Kerala so far.

Ahead of its first weekend, a slight drop in numbers on Friday (today) was already anticipated. However, the movie is having a comparatively slow growth today. Despite the drop, the film aims to soar high at the box office.
According to the latest Sacnilk updates, L2: Empuraan has managed to add only around Rs 2.74 cr today (day 2) till 4:35 PM. As of now, the total nett collection stands at Rs 24.74 cr. The numbers are expected to see a boost in the evening and night shows.

As reported by the same trade tracker website, the film has had an overall 38.99% Malayalam occupancy on Friday (day 2, March 28) till now.
