Kalabhavan Navas Passes Away: Malayalam actor and mimicry artist Kalabhavan Navas has died at the age of 51. According to a report by Reporter Live, he was found unconscious in a hotel room in Chottanikkara, where he was staying for the shoot of the film Prakampanam. He was taken to Tata Hospital in Chottanikkara but was declared dead on arrival. Initial reports suggest a heart attack as the cause of death. Further details are awaited.

Kalabhavan Troupe Veteran Who Made a Mark in Comedy Across Film and Television

Kalabhavan Navas, a well-known face in Kerala's entertainment circuit, had long been active in both the film and mimicry scenes. Born in Vadakkanchery in the Thrissur district, he was the son of Aboobacker, a former theatre and film actor. His brother, Niyas Backer, is also a familiar figure in Malayalam cinema and television.

Navas began his artistic journey with mimicry, performing on stage as part of the renowned Kalabhavan troupe. He was a regular on mimicry platforms across the state during the early days of his career. Later, alongside his brother, he co-founded the mimicry and stage group Cochin Arts, which went on to become active in the performance circuit.

He made his film debut in 1995 with the Malayalam film Chaithanyam. Over the next two decades, he appeared in numerous films, mostly in comedic roles. Some of his notable film credits include Ezharakoottam, Mimics Action 500, Hitler Brothers, Junior Mandrake, Amma Ammaayiyamma, Meenakshi Kalyanam, Mattupetti Machan, Chandamama, My Dear Karadi, One Man Show, Thillana Thillana, Vettam, Chakkaramuthu, Chattambinadu, Driving License, and Detective Ujjwalan.

Apart from films, Navas was also active on television and appeared on several Malayalam comedy shows such as Badai Bungalow, Cinema Chirima, Comedy Masters, and Comedy Stars Season 2. Throughout his career, he was known for his timing and adaptability in comic performances, contributing to his popularity among mimicry troupes and television audiences alike.

Kalabhavan Navas is survived by his wife, actress Rahna, and their three children: Mehrin, Raihwan, and Rithwan.
