Driver Shares Details of Fatal Crash Involving Actor Shine Tom Chacko's Family
In a statement to Manorama Online, Aneesh, who was behind the wheel during the accident that claimed the life of actor Shine Tom Chacko's father, recounted the events leading up to the crash. According to him, the collision occurred when a lorry ahead of their car suddenly veered into their lane without warning.
Shine's father, C.P. Chacko, was seated in the back seat and reportedly sustained a critical head injury in the impact, which later proved fatal. Aneesh noted that a Malayali family traveling behind them rushed the injured to the hospital, but C.P. Chacko had already succumbed to his injuries before arrival.
The family had begun their journey from Kochi around 11 PM on Wednesday and were en route to Bengaluru. Aneesh clarified that it wasn't a hurried trip-they had paused several times along the way. He said that while this was the first such accident the family had experienced, the loss they suffered was immeasurable.
Recalling the crash, Aneesh said he had been driving in the left lane of a double-track highway at a speed of 80 kmph. As they approached the lorry, it suddenly moved left from the right lane, giving him little time to react. The car crashed into the back of the lorry, and due to a steering sensor malfunction, he lost control of the vehicle. A tire burst, causing the car to swerve violently.
He also mentioned that Shine's father was not wearing a seat belt at the time and was asleep behind the driver's seat. The force of the impact caused his head to strike the driver's seat, resulting in a fatal injury.
The driver has indicated that they intend to pursue legal action against the lorry driver.
