Kavya Madhavan's Father P. Madhavan Passes Away: P. Madhavan, father of Malayalam actress Kavya Madhavan, passed away in Chennai at the age of 75. He belonged to the Pallikkara family in Nileshwaram, Kasaragod district, and was known locally as the proprietor of Supriya Textiles. According to a report by Manorama News, his final rites will be conducted in Kochi at a later time.
Madhavan is survived by his wife, Shyamala; son, Mithun, who is based in Australia; daughter-in-law, Ria; and son-in-law, actor Dileep, who is married to Kavya Madhavan.
A Supportive Father Through a Notable Film Journey
Over the years, P. Madhavan remained a steady presence in his daughter's life and career. From her early days in the industry, he accompanied her to sets and stage shows, offering both emotional support and being a constant presence by her side. Kavya has spoken in several interviews about the role her father played in shaping her journey as an actress.
Kavya Madhavan began her acting career as a child artist, with her first appearance being a cameo in Kamal's Pookkalam Varavayi in 1991. Over the next few years, she featured in several films in minor roles before landing a leading part in Chandranudikkunna Dikhil (1999), opposite Dileep. The film's success marked the beginning of a popular on-screen pairing between the two, who went on to co-star in more than 20 Malayalam films.
In addition to her collaborations with Dileep, Kavya has acted alongside industry veterans such as Mammootty and Mohanlal. She earned critical acclaim for her performances in Perumazhakkalam and Gaddama, both of which won her the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress. Kavya also had brief stints in Tamil cinema and has been involved in songwriting and playback singing.
Despite stepping back from acting in recent years, Kavya remains a well-recognized name in Malayalam cinema. The passing of her father marks a personal loss for the actress, whose bond with him was well known in the industry.
