Moonwalk OTT Release Date: When And Where To Stream The Breakdancing-Themed Malayalam Film Online

Moonwalk OTT Release: The Malayalam film Moonwalk, which faced a long and challenging journey before reaching audiences, is now set for its digital premiere. The movie will be available for streaming on JioHotstar starting July 8, 2025.

Directed by Vinod A.K., Moonwalk marks his directorial debut. The film was shot back in late 2020, with its teaser first released the same year. However, despite wrapping up post-production in 2021, the film's release was repeatedly postponed. Multiple OTT platforms initially declined to acquire the movie, leaving its future uncertain for several years.

Eventually, in 2025, filmmakers Lijo Jose Pellissery and Listin Stephen stepped in to support its theatrical release. With their backing, Moonwalk was finally released in cinemas on May 30, 2025. Now, just over a month later, the film is heading to streaming, giving a wider audience the opportunity to watch it from home.

A coming-of-age Tale Rooted In Breakdancing Culture

Set against the backdrop of a remote village in Kerala during the late 1980s, Moonwalk draws from real-life incidents. The story revolves around a group of teenagers who become fascinated by breakdancing, a trend then just making its way into popular culture. The film explores their passion, struggles, and how their pursuit of this art form intersects with the cultural and social environment of their village.

The ensemble cast includes Sibi Kuttappan, Anunath, Rishi Kainikkara, Siddharth B., Sujith Prabhakar, Arjun Manilal, Manoj Moses, Appu Ashray, Sanjana Doos, Nainita Maria, Meenakshi Raveendran, and Harshitha J Pisharody, among others.

Behind the scenes, Moonwalk brings together a technically strong team. The cinematography is by Ansar Shah, while the music is composed by Prashant Pillai. The editing is handled jointly by Deepu Joseph and Kiran Das. Choreography, which plays a central role in the film's narrative, is done by Sreejit P Dazzlers, with action direction by Mafia Sasi and Gurukkal.

The film's script was penned by Vinod A.K. along with Mathew Varghis and Sunil Gopalakrishnan. Its production was managed by Listin Stephen and Jasni Ahamad.

With its upcoming digital release, Moonwalk is set to reach viewers beyond the theaters, offering a nostalgic glimpse into a time when global pop culture began to make its way into local communities.
