Narivetta Now Streaming: Narivetta, the Malayalam action drama rooted in the real-life 2003 Muthanga tribal protest, is now available for streaming. Though initially announced for a July 11 digital release on SonyLIV, the film began streaming on the platform on the afternoon of July 10 itself. Viewers can now watch the film in multiple languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi.

Directed by Anuraj Manohar and written by Abin Joseph, Narivetta explores the tensions surrounding land rights, forest conservation laws, and the treatment of tribal communities by the state. The film centers on CPO Peter Varghese, portrayed by Tovino Thomas, a police constable posted to a remote tribal region. There, he becomes a witness to the systemic displacement of indigenous residents under state-backed forest preservation policies.

Suraj Venjaramoodu plays Head Constable Basheer Ahammed, Varghese's mentor and a guiding presence during the unfolding crisis. As resistance from the local population grows stronger, the government sends DIG Raghuram Keshavadas, played by Cheran in his Malayalam debut, to suppress the unrest. The narrative follows Varghese as he grapples with conflicting loyalties and confronts the consequences of state violence.

The cast also includes Arya Salim as C.K. Shanthi, a character reportedly based on tribal activist C.K. Janu, as well as Pranav Teophine, Priyamvada Krishnan, Prasanth Madhavan, Rini Udayakumar, Nandhu, Badusha NM, Kumar Sethu, Dr. Vijesh Lee, and Shahi Kabir.

The project was officially announced on July 21, 2024, and principal photography began just days later on July 26. Filming took place across Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Wayanad. The film was released in theaters on May 23, 2025.

Produced by Tippushan and Shiyas Hassan under the Indian Cinema Company banner, the film's technical crew includes cinematographer Vijay, editor Shameer Muhammad, and composer Jakes Bejoy, who handled both the background score and songs. The production team also features names like Shemimol Besheer (project design), Phoenix Prabhu (stunts), Arun Manohar (costumes), and Pictorial FX (visual effects).

Narivetta is now streaming on SonyLIV, giving a wider audience access to a movie that is inspired by a socio-political moment in Kerala's recent history.
