National Film Awards Malayalam Full Winners List: Urvashi And Vijayaraghavan Win Best Supporting Actor Awards

National Film Awards 2025: The winners of the 71st National Film Awards, recognising the best in Indian cinema for the year 2023, were officially announced on August 1, 2025. The results followed an extensive evaluation process conducted by the appointed jury, who submitted their final report to Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State L. Murugan earlier in the day at 4 PM.
A press conference was held at 6 PM at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, where jury members formally revealed the winners across various categories, including feature films, non-feature films, and writing on cinema. The awards this year were based on entries submitted by filmmakers across the country, with the final deadline being September 18, 2024.
As with every edition, Malayalam cinema featured prominently in the winners' list, continuing its strong national presence. While the full list includes awardees from across India's diverse linguistic landscape, several Malayalam films and artists were recognised with key honours.

Special Jury Mention (Non-Feature Film): Nekal - Chronicle of the Paddy Man (Malayalam)

Best Supporting Actor: Vijayaraghavan for Pookkaalam

The awards ceremony is likely to be held in the coming weeks in New Delhi, where the winners will be formally honoured.
In the previous edition, the 70th National Film Awards announced on August 16, 2024, Aattam, a Malayalam film directed by Anand Ekarshi and produced by Joy Movie Productions, was named Best Feature Film. That recognition was a major highlight for Malayalam cinema. In the same edition, Rishab Shetty won Best Actor for Kantara (Kannada), which was also awarded Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The Best Actress award had been jointly given to Nithya Menen (Thiruchitrambalam, Tamil) and Manasi Parekh (Kutch Express, Gujarati).
